Dhaka: A case was filed against 50 individuals, including former Member of Parliament Elias Uddin Mollah, for their alleged involvement in setting a Shikor Paribahan passenger bus on fire in the Pallabi area of the capital on September 19. Sub-inspector Liakat Hossain of Pallabi Police Station initiated the case, implicating an additional 70 to 80 unidentified individuals.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Kamal Uddin accepted the first information report and scheduled October 25 for the submission of the probe report. The court further ordered the detention of two accused individuals, Monir and Shanto, by sending them to jail in connection with the case.
The case documents reveal that at approximately 7:15 pm on September 19, unidentified miscreants set fire to the Dhaka Metro-Ba-11-9323 bus belonging to Shikor Paribahan. The incident occurred in front of Eastern Bank on the Mirpur-11 main road under Pallabi Police Station, after which the perpetrators fled the scene.
