Bogra: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to renovate and upgrade Shaheed Chandu Stadium (SCS) in Bogra with the aim of making the venue suitable to host international matches again. SCS, one of the country's prominent cricket venues, has not hosted an international match for nearly two decades. The lack of adequate facilities and maintenance over the years has left the stadium in a vulnerable condition.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, at a Board of Directors' meeting held online today, the BCB approved the appointment of a consultant to provide architectural, engineering, and project-preparation consultancy services for the proposed renovation and development of the stadium.
The Board also approved a series of infrastructure development projects at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur aimed at providing improved facilities for cricketers and supporting their training and performance. As part of the plans, the BCB approved the installation of an IAAF-approved, three-lane specialised running track at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) Ground at SBNCS. The track will support cricketers' training and fitness activities, as well as other sporting requirements.
The Board also approved upgrading works for two alternative dressing rooms, the players' entry area, and the common lobby area at SBNCS. In addition, two new dressing rooms will be constructed at the stadium to facilitate domestic tournaments, practice matches, and other cricket-related activities. The existing dressing rooms in the Pavilion Building will be retained primarily for international matches.
