Dhaka: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today announced that the government will acknowledge the achievements of the nation's youth based on their merit and talent, during a reception for Bangladeshi Hafez who recently won prizes at an international Holy Quran competition in Saudi Arabia.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Prime Minister emphasized that the accomplishments of the prize-winning Hafez are not just personal triumphs but represent the achievements of all Muslims in Bangladesh. This statement was made in reference to the participants of the 46th King Abdulaziz International Holy Quran Competition held in Saudi Arabia, where several Bangladeshi participants excelled.
The reception took place in the meeting room of the Cabinet Division at Bangladesh Secretariat, as reported by Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary Hasan Shiplu. In his address, Tarique Rahman highlighted the government's policy of recognizing achievements made by the country's youth at the state level, acknowledging their contributions to the nation's future.
He underscored the importance of fostering and valuing meritorious individuals, stating that the country would benefit if talented people are properly encouraged and evaluated. This initiative aligns with the government's ongoing efforts to support and recognize the talent and competence of its citizens since coming into office.
During the event, the Prime Minister addressed concerns raised by the teachers of the prize-winning Hafez and assured them of his commitment to resolving these issues in consultation with the relevant minister. He also promised government support for future participation in international competitions.
Tarique Rahman extended his encouragement to the youth to partake in international competitions, promising governmental assistance within the framework of established rules. He expressed the desire for Bangladeshi youth to bring honor to themselves and the nation through such platforms.
The Prime Minister also called for unity in efforts to establish peace and achieve positive changes in the country. He emphasized the shared goal of peaceful coexistence and dignity for all citizens, seeking collaboration and prayers for the government's initiatives.
At the event, the Prime Minister presented books to the winners and listened to Quran recitations by the Hafez who excelled in the Saudi competition. Notably, Bangladeshi Hafez Mohammad Zakaria achieved first place in the 15-Para Hifz, Tajweed, and beautiful recitation category among participants from 133 countries. Sheikh Mohammad Mahmudul Hasan Ashrafi and Hafeza Rabeta Binte Ramzan secured third places in their respective categories.
Present at the occasion were Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Houssain Kaikobad, State Minister Mohammad Shamim Kaiser, Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister ABM Abdus Sattar, Maulana Rafiqul Islam, and the teachers of the prize-winning Hafez, including Kaiyum Molla, Muinuddin Majumdar, Abu Bakar, and Sajeda Khatun.
