Dhaka: In a significant reorganization within the police administration, the government has transferred and promoted a total of 11 senior police officials, including six Additional Inspectors General of Police (Additional IGPs) and five Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), to new roles. Two separate notifications were issued by the Police-1 branch of the Public Security Division under the Ministry of Home Affairs to announce these changes.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the reshuffle sees Syedur Rahman, previously the director (DIG) of Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital, promoted to the role of Additional IGP at the Police Headquarters. Mainul Hasan, who was serving as Additional IGP (current charge) of Tourist Police, has been reassigned as the principal (Additional IGP) of the Bangladesh Police Academy located in Sarda, Rajshahi.
Further changes include Dhaka Range DIG Iqbal Hossain and Police Headquarters DIG Kamrul Ahsan, both receiving promotions to Additional IGP positions at the Police Headquarters and the Special Branch (SB), respectively. Sardar Nurul Amin, previously Additional IGP of SB, has been moved to the Police Headquarters, and G M Azizur Rahman, who was the principal of the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sarda, is now Additional IGP of Tourist Police.
Additional transfers involve Rezaul Karim, DIG of Police Headquarters, who will now serve as DIG of Khulna Range, while Khulna Range DIG Mostafizur Rahman has been reassigned as DIG of Dhaka Range. Mohammad Muslim, formerly DIG of the Anti-Terrorism Unit, has assumed the position of director of Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital.
Moreover, SB DIG Mir Ashraf Ali has been appointed as DIG of Railway Police, and Mass Rapid Transit (Metro Rail) DIG Siddiqui Tanzilur Rahman will now serve as DIG of the Special Branch. The notifications emphasized that these orders are to be implemented with immediate effect.
