Govt Transfers Six Addl-IGs, Five DIGs in Major Police Reshuffle

Dhaka: The government today announced a significant reshuffle within the police department, transferring six officers of the rank of Additional Inspector General (Addl-IG) and five Deputy Inspectors General (DIG) to new postings. The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notification stating that the transfer orders will take immediate effect.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the notification detailed the new appointments, including Md Sayedur Rahman, who was recently promoted to Addl-IG and will now serve at the Police Headquarters. Previously, Rahman was the Director (DIG) of the Central Police Hospital, Rajarbagh. Similarly, Md Mainul Hasan, who held the position of Addl-IG (current charge) of the Tourist Police, has been appointed as the Principal (Addl-IG) of the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah, Rajshahi.

Md Iqbal Hossain, formerly the DIG of Dhaka Range and recently promoted to Addl-IG, will also be stationed at the Police Headquarters. Meanwhile, Md Kamrul Ahsan, previously a DIG at the Police Headquarters and now an Addl-IG, has been assigned to the Special Branch (SB). Sardar Nurul Amin, who served as Addl-IG of SB, will transfer to the Police Headquarters, while GM Azizur Rahman, the former Principal (Addl-IG) of Bangladesh Police Academy, has been moved to the Tourist Police.

Additional transfers were noted in a separate notification, including the movement of DIG Md Rezaul Karim from the Police Headquarters to the Khulna Range. Meanwhile, DIG Md Mostafizur Rahman will transition from the Khulna Range to the Dhaka Range. The DIG of the Anti-Terrorism Unit, Mohammad Muslim, has been reassigned to the Central Police Hospital, Rajarbagh, as Director (DIG). Other changes include Mir Ashraf Ali moving from DIG of SB, Dhaka, to Railway Police, and DIG Siddiqui Tanzilur Rahman transferring from the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) to SB, Dhaka.
