Dhaka: Two more children have died with measles symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths linked to confirmed measles and measles symptoms to 1,046 from March 15 to September 17. This information was disclosed in a press release by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) control room issued today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, in the last 24 hours, 1,282 suspected measles cases were reported, increasing the total number of suspected cases to 176,480 since March 15. The release also noted that 61 new confirmed measles cases have been identified in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 20,343 since March 15.
Throughout the period from March 15 to September 17, a total of 155,602 suspected measles patients were admitted to hospitals. During the same timeframe, 149,540 patients recovered and were subsequently discharged from medical facilities.
The two recent deaths involve children with suspected measles, adding to the total of 946 children who have died with suspected measles since March 15. Meanwhile, there were no fatalities from confirmed measles in the past 24 hours, though a total of 100 people have died from confirmed measles since the onset of the outbreak.
