Dhaka: The traffic division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today filed 2,967 cases against vehicles for violating traffic rules over the last 24 hours in the capital. The cases are part of the DMP's regular enforcement campaign aimed at ensuring traffic discipline, reducing congestion, and improving road safety across the city.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the campaign was conducted on Tuesday and involved the DMP's traffic police dumping 563 motor vehicles and towing 401 vehicles. The DMP has stated that such drives against traffic law violators will continue, urging both motorists and pedestrians to comply with traffic regulations to help maintain order on the roads.
During the drives, various divisions took action against violators. The Traffic-Ramna Division filed 93 cases, including against buses, covered vans, CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and motorcycles. Traffic-Lalbagh Division filed 188 cases, while Traffic-Motijheel Division lodged 289 cases. These cases were against buses, trucks, covered vans, CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and motorcycles.
Meanwhile, the Traffic-Wari Division filed 715 cases, and the Traffic-Tejgaon Division filed 220 cases. The Traffic-Mirpur Division took action with 476 cases, and the Traffic-Uttara Division registered 629 cases. Additionally, the Traffic-Gulshan Division filed 385 cases. Each division targeted various types of vehicles, including buses, trucks, covered vans, CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and motorcycles.
The DMP release concluded that these drives are part of ongoing efforts to enforce traffic laws and ensure discipline on the city's roads.
