Bandarban: Two newly-constructed Temporary Operational Bases (TOBs) have been inaugurated at Aracchatala Tila and Haturani Tila along the Bangladesh-Myanmar border in Ghumdhum Union of Naikhyangchhari upazila in Bandarban district. The new TOBs aim to enhance the surveillance and operational capabilities of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) along the frontier, according to a press release issued this evening.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BGB Cox's Bazar Region Commander Brigadier General Kazi Samsher Uddin formally inaugurated the two TOBs this morning. During the inauguration, the region commander inspected various facilities of the TOBs and instructed the BGB personnel deployed there to perform their duties with utmost vigilance, professionalism, and efficiency to ensure border security.
He stated that the newly-constructed TOBs would make BGB's surveillance and patrolling along the Bangladesh-Myanmar border more effective and dynamic. The TOBs are expected to enhance the force's operational capabilities in preventing drug trafficking, smuggling, and illegal infiltration, as well as in ensuring the safety and security of people living in the border areas.
The new facilities would enable BGB personnel to respond swiftly to any situation, particularly in remote and vulnerable areas along the border, the commander added. BGB Ramu Sector Commander Colonel Md Anwar-ul-Alam and Cox's Bazar Battalion (34 BGB) Commander Lieutenant Colonel SM Khairul Alam, along with other BGB officers and members, were present at the inauguration.
