China’s Julong Group Eyes Investment in Bangladesh’s Shipbuilding Sector

Dhaka: China's renowned Julong Group has expressed interest in investing in Bangladesh's shipbuilding sector. Julong Group Chairman Bin Wang met State Minister for the Ministry of Shipping Md Razib Ahsan at his office today and discussed the investment proposal.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting covered various aspects of modern vessel construction in Bangladesh and the development of the maritime sector. Julong Group Chairman Bin Wang highlighted the company's intent to build a diverse range of modern vessels and ships in Bangladesh, leveraging the country's geographical location and skilled workforce.

Bin Wang stated that the group's long-term goal is to satisfy domestic demand with internationally standard vessels produced in Bangladesh and to export these vessels to different countries worldwide. The interest in investing in Bangladesh's shipbuilding sector reflects a strategic move to enhance production capabilities and expand market reach.

State Minister Md Razib Ahsan welcomed the Chinese investment proposal, emphasizing that the Bangladesh government is fostering a business-friendly environment for foreign investors. He remarked on the timeliness of China's decision to invest in the shipbuilding industry.

The state minister also assured that the government would provide all necessary support, including policy and administrative assistance, to facilitate the initiative of building internationally standard ships in Bangladesh and exporting them abroad. Senior officials of the ministry were present at the meeting.
