BGB Helps Bring Balipara Market Fire Under Control

Bandarban: A fire broke out at Balipara market adjacent to the headquarters of Balipara Battalion (38 BGB) in Bandarban early today. The prompt and coordinated response of the paramilitary force Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) helped prevent the fire from spreading to other parts of the market.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the fire originated at around 3:30 am. On receiving the information, BGB personnel rushed to the spot and joined the firefighting and rescue operations in coordination with local people, affected traders, and the Fire Service.

A joint effort led by BGB Deputy Commander Major Md Imam ul Azim and Assistant Director Md Zakir Hossain brought the fire fully under control at around 4:45 am. No casualties were reported in the incident.

Around 10 to 12 shops were completely gutted in the fire, causing an estimated loss of Tk 40-50 lakh, according to an initial assessment. Balipara Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Md Yasir Arafat Hossain disclosed the information in the press release.
