Chattogram: Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) have arrested five individuals and seized 750 sacks of cement, weighing roughly 37,500 kg, during a special operation in Chattogram. This information was disclosed by Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan on Tuesday morning.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Coast Guard Outpost located in Patenga executed a targeted operation based on intelligence received at the outer anchorage area within Patenga Police Station jurisdiction at 5:00 pm on Monday. The operation involved the inspection of a vessel suspected of carrying contraband items, which resulted in the apprehension of five smugglers. Additionally, the Coast Guard confiscated the vessel along with 750 sacks of cement, estimated at approximately Taka 3.75 lakh, that were being unlawfully transported to Myanmar.
Legal proceedings are underway against the arrested individuals and the seized goods, the Coast Guard added.
