Seven More Leaders Sent to Jail Over Awami League Flash Procession in Gulshan

Dhaka: A court here today sent seven more leaders and activists of the activities-banned Awami League (AL) and its front organisations to jail in a case filed over their alleged flash procession in the capital's Gulshan area on September 11. The accused are Mirza Mokhlesur Rahman, Mirza Arjoo, Shahidul Islam, Mosharraf Hossain, Mokter Hossain, Anwar Hossain Ana, and Bayejid Islam.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sefatullah passed the order as police produced them before the court and pleaded to keep them behind bars till the end of the probe. Another court on September 14 sent nine accused to jail in the case. Nine others were sent to jail on September 13 by the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam.

According to the case documents, the accused brought out a flash procession on Road 3 in Gulshan-1 around 11:50 am on September 11. They exploded a couple of crude bombs and created panic in the area. Police later filed the case under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
