Khulna: Prepaid electricity meter recharging under the West Zone Power Distribution Company Limited (WZOPADICO) remained suspended for around 17 hours in 21 districts, including those in Khulna and Barishal divisions and Faridpur, due to a server glitch.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the recharging service resumed fully at 6:10am today (Tuesday), as stated in a press release issued by Md Mahbubur Rahman, assistant manager (public relation officer) of WZOPADICO Ltd's headquarters. The press release indicated that a disconnection occurred between the database server and the application server of the prepaid metering system at 1:15pm on Monday (Sept 14).
As a result, the vending operation, including prepaid meter recharging, was temporarily suspended, causing inconvenience to customers in different areas under WZOPADICO Ltd. A technical expert team from WZOPADICO Ltd's prepaid metering department worked continuously to restore the connection, and the vending operation became fully functional at 6:10am today.
In the press release, WZOPADICO Ltd authorities expressed sincere regret to prepaid meter customers for the difficulties and inconvenience they faced while trying to recharge their meters during the service disruption. The authorities also stated that necessary technical measures have been taken to prevent the recurrence of such problems in the future.
WZOPADICO Ltd also sought suggestions and cooperation from all concerned to further improve the prepaid metering service, the press release added.
