Brahmanbaria: Two passengers were killed after a speedboat carrying three people capsized in Khagalia River in Nasirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria district on Monday night. The deceased were identified as Dayal, 24, son of Raihan Uddin of Chatlapar union in Nasirnagar, and Md Sajib, 25, son of Hanif Mia of Kuliarchar upazila in neighbouring Kishoreganj district.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Nasirnagar Police Station Krishna Lal Ghosh stated that the three individuals had traveled by speedboat from Chatlapar village to Nasirnagar Upazila Health Complex on Monday afternoon to seek treatment for a patient. After receiving medical attention, they were on their way back home at around 9pm when the speedboat tragically sank in the Khagalia River.
Local residents responded quickly, rescuing the injured passengers and transporting them to Nasirnagar Upazila Health Complex. Unfortunately, upon arrival, the attending physician declared two of them dead. The bodies are currently being held at the Chatlapar Police Outpost as legal proceedings are underway, according to police reports.
