Chattogram: Customs authorities have recovered an additional Tk 67.90 lakh in revenue after detecting a misdeclaration in an import consignment of Heat Transfer Paper and PVC Flex Banner at Chattogram Customs House, ICD. Importer Kahf Corporation had submitted Bill of Entry (B/E) No. 225485, dated July 29, 2026, declaring 37 metric tons of Heat Transfer Paper and 10 metric tons of PVC Flex Banner.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, following the assessment of the declared goods, the customs duty and taxes were initially determined at Tk 57.38 lakh. However, acting on confidential information from the Central Intelligence Cell, customs officials locked the consignment and conducted a physical examination.
The examination revealed 19.85 metric tons of Heat Transfer Paper instead of the declared 37 metric tons, while the quantity of PVC Flex Banner stood at 26.79 metric tons against the declared 10 metric tons. As the physical examination established a misdeclaration, customs authorities reassessed the consignment and imposed applicable penalties. The total amount of duties, taxes, and penalties rose to Tk 1,25,29,321.
Consequently, customs authorities successfully recovered an additional Tk 67.90 lakh in revenue from the consignment. The customs authorities stated that the action was part of intelligence-based monitoring aimed at preventing revenue evasion through the misdeclaration of imported goods.
