Chattogram: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against former Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) mayor AJM Nasir Uddin on charges of acquiring assets worth around Tk 13,99,41,570 beyond his known sources of income.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, ACC Assistant Director of Public Relations Md Tanzir Ahmed disclosed the information at the commission headquarters today. The ACC has alleged that AJM Nasir Uddin accumulated and retained these assets through dishonest means, engaging in corruption and abusing his power. The assets in question were found to be inconsistent with his known sources of income, prompting the legal action.

The case against Nasir Uddin has been filed under section 27(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004, and section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947. These sections pertain to the illegal acquisition of wealth and the misuse of power for personal gain, raising serious concerns about the former mayor's financial dealings during his tenure.
