Kushtia: The paramilitary force Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized Indian drugs and other smuggled goods worth Taka 14.32 lakh in three separate drives along the Kushtia frontier. However, no one was arrested in connection with the incidents.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Lieutenant Colonel Rashed Kamal Rony, commander of Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB), confirmed the information in a press release this afternoon. A BGB patrol team conducted a drive in the West Dharmadah field area under West Dharmadah Border Outpost (BOP) at around 11:30 pm yesterday and recovered 10 bottles of Indian liquor and 2,880 pieces of Cyproheptadine tablets from an abandoned condition.
In another drive, a BGB patrol team recovered 50 bottles of Indian liquor, 740 pieces of Cyproheptadine tablets, and 650 pieces of dexamethasone tablets from the Nichpara unpaved road area under Ramkrishnapur BOP at around 11:10 pm last night.
Later, at around 12:50 am today, another BGB team conducted a drive in the Gorura graveyard area under Pragpur BOP and recovered 1,120 packets of Indian bidi (leaf cigarettes). The seized drugs and smuggled goods were handed over to the concerned authorities for further legal action in accordance with the existing rules, the BGB added.
