JS Whip Calls for Collective Action Against Extortion and Irregularities

Sunamganj: Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Whip Alhaj Md GK Gaus today emphasized the necessity of collective efforts to ensure the proper implementation of government development initiatives and the prevention of all forms of extortion and irregularities through active public participation. 'If necessary, we must stand with the people to eliminate drugs, theft, and smuggling,' he stated while addressing a gathering as the chief guest at the 'Hijol' conference room of the Sunamganj Deputy Commissioner's Office this afternoon.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting aimed to coordinate the overall law-and-order situation and oversee development and public welfare activities in the district. The Whip urged officials from the Agriculture, Social Services, Forest and Fisheries departments, among other government offices, to fulfill their responsibilities diligently. He also called for effective measures to further enhance the law-and-order situation within the district.

GK Gaus advised the authorities to remain vigilant to prevent any misuse of the upcoming Durga Puja as a pretext for any untoward activities. The meeting was presided over by Deputy Commissioner (DC) and District Magistrate Mohammad Minhajur Rahman and conducted by Additional District Magistrate Sunjit Kumar Chanda.

Parliament members from Sunamganj-5, Sunamganj-4, Sunamganj-3, and Sunamganj-1 constituencies attended the meeting as special guests. Additionally, Zilla Parishad Administrator Md Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury, Superintendent of Police (SP) ABM Zakir Hossain, Commander of 28 BGB Sunamganj Battalion AKM Zakaria Kadir, and other notable officials were present at the meeting.
