Shibchar: Wheelchairs and corrugated iron sheets were distributed among more than 100 disabled and distressed families in Shibchar upazila of the district today. The wheelchairs were distributed among 100 persons with disabilities at a programme held at Padma Auditorium of Shibchar Upazila Parishad this afternoon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the programme was jointly organised by the upazila administration and the Department of Social Services. At the same event, 27 helpless and distressed families received two bundles of corrugated iron sheets each under an initiative of the Department of Disaster Management.
Deputy Commissioner Marzina Akter attended the programme as the chief guest, while Shibchar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) HM Ibne Mizan presided over it. Upazila Social Services Officer Nazmul Hasan, Upazila Livestock Officer Haris Chandra Bose, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Md Abid Hasan, and officials from different departments of the upazila administration were also present.
