Dhaka: The Dhaka University (DU) unit of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has initiated an awareness campaign focusing on dengue prevention and environmental cleanliness by distributing leaflets among students on the campus.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this initiative is part of a nationwide dengue prevention and cleanliness campaign that was inaugurated by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Saturday. The JCD leaders and activists were seen distributing leaflets along the route from VC Chattar to the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC), with DU Chhatra Dal President Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahas and General Secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon leading the effort.
Prior to the leaflet distribution, JCD leaders submitted a memorandum to DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ABM Obaidul Islam, urging the university authorities to enhance their dengue prevention and cleanliness efforts. Present at the submission were Pro-Vice-Chancellor (admin) Professor Mohammad Almojaddeddi Alfesani, Registrar Munsi Shams Uddin Ahmed, and Estate Manager Fatema Binte Mustafa.
During a brief press briefing, Shipon emphasized the need for the university administration to conduct regular and effective campaigns on both dengue prevention and environmental cleanliness. He mentioned that the memorandum also included several previously raised demands, such as the installation of dustbins and the execution of regular cleanliness drives.
Sahas highlighted that JCD is actively engaged in various dengue prevention and cleanliness programmes and expressed their commitment to providing voluntary support for any large-scale initiatives organized by the university or hall administrations involving students.
