Dhaka: The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has imposed fines amounting to Tk 1,77,500 across 28 cases following the discovery of Aedes mosquito larvae in numerous households throughout different areas within its jurisdiction.

According to United News of Bangladesh, DNCC executive magistrates carried out mobile court drives in various locations on Sunday as part of a comprehensive three-month mosquito eradication programme. The fines were levied after the detection of Aedes larvae on the premises of multiple homes.

The mobile courts filed cases in several neighborhoods, including Mirpur-10, Rupnagar, Uttar Pallabi, Agargaon, Uttara Nikunjo, and Baridhara, as per the statement from DNCC.

The operations were spearheaded by DNCC-appointed executive magistrates Atish Darshi Chakma, SM Rasel Islam Noor, Shariful Alam Tanvir, Pramotha Ranjan Ghatak, and Dedarul Islam. This initiative is part of a broader three-month campaign that was announced by the Prime Minister on National Dengue Prevention Day.
