Dhaka: BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has raised questions about possible sabotage or conspiracy behind the repeated disruptions in electricity supply from the Adani power plant in India. He expressed these concerns during a discussion organized by the 12-party alliance at the Jatiya Press Club, focusing on 'The Ongoing Crisis in the Country and What Patriotic Forces Should Do.'
According to United News of Bangladesh, Rizvi highlighted that one of the units at the power plant has broken down, resulting in disrupted electricity supply. He questioned whether technical faults are coincidental or if there is an underlying mystery or sabotage. Rizvi's remarks indicate a growing concern among the public about the frequent technical issues and unit shutdowns, raising questions about possible conspiracies to hinder government programs.
Rizvi noted that the government has been fulfilling its financial obligations to power plants through instalments and international agreements, including those with India. Despite this, the disruptions continue, prompting Rizvi to voice the concerns that have emerged in people's minds regarding the situation.
He further alleged that the country is facing an artificially created crisis, suggesting that historical incidents between 2001 and 2006 showed how such disruptions could impact government activities, including social protection measures.
Additionally, Rizvi questioned how a banned political party attempted to resurface and gather a significant number of people, challenging the role of intelligence agencies and police administration in preventing such activities. He also commented on the swift government response to the killing of four members of a Hindu family in Rangpur, emphasizing the need for vigilance against fascism to protect the country's independence, sovereignty, and people's rights.
