Seven More Children Die with Measles Symptoms, Death Toll Reaches 1,019

Dhaka: Seven more children died with symptoms of measles across the country in the past 24 hours, increasing the death toll from confirmed measles and measles symptoms to 1,019 between March 15 and September 12. The news was released in a press statement by the control room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the report detailed that 816 suspected measles cases were recorded in the past 24 hours. This brings the total number of suspected measles cases to 170,638 from March 15 to September 12. During the same period, the number of confirmed measles cases rose by 39 in the last 24 hours, totaling 20,006 since March 15.

The DGHS report highlighted that from March 15 to September 12, 150,202 patients with suspected measles were admitted to hospitals, out of which 144,485 patients recovered and were discharged. The past 24 hours saw seven children die with suspected measles, adding to the 919 children who have died from suspected measles since March 15. In addition, 100 people have died from confirmed measles during this period.
