Tangail: State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku announced today that the government is actively working towards women's empowerment by issuing Family Cards in the names of women. This initiative aims to ensure not just the individual empowerment of women but also the economic security of their families.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during a discussion organized by the Tangail District Mohila Dal to mark the 48th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal, Tuku highlighted the significant contributions of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia to the education sector, noting that various initiatives under her leadership have spurred national development. Continuing this legacy, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is prioritizing women's dignity and empowerment.
Tuku explained that the Family Card program is designed to economically strengthen women, recognizing their role in family welfare and financial responsibility. The program's coverage is being gradually expanded, with a current assessment process ensuring that no one is excluded. The minister emphasized the importance of women's economic capacity for positive societal impact in the long term.
He also noted that the government, though only six months into its current term, has already begun implementing several development and public welfare programs. Addressing misinformation spread by certain groups, Tuku urged the public to remain informed and vigilant.
Highlighting the historical struggle and sacrifice for democracy, Tuku called for vigilance to protect these achievements. He assured that those who have supported the nation in challenging times will be recognized.
The meeting also featured speeches from Tangail District BNP President Hasanuzzamil Shahin, former Member Secretary Mahmudul Haque Sanu, former General Secretary Advocate Momtaz Karim, with Tangail District Mohila Dal President Nilufa Yasmin Khan presiding and General Secretary Advocate Roxy Mehedi moderating.
