Natore: The Department of Fisheries has initiated the release of nearly two tonnes of fish fry into the water bodies across seven upazilas in the district this season. This effort is part of a strategic initiative by the district fisheries department, funded under the revenue budget, to enhance fish resources in the region.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the program witnessed the release of 25 kilograms of fish fry at the Natore Police Lines pond, officiated by the Superintendent of Police, Mohammad Shariful Haque. The event saw the presence of several notable figures, including District Fisheries Officer Md Omar Ali and Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Md Ifte Khayer Alam.
In his remarks, Superintendent Shariful Haque emphasized the potential of planned fish cultivation in meeting the country's animal protein needs. He highlighted the importance of maximizing the use of water bodies for fish farming to achieve this goal.
Speaking to BSS, District Fisheries Officer Omar Ali outlined that the release of fish fry is part of the department's ongoing efforts within the current fiscal year. He expressed optimism that this initiative would not only address the demand for animal protein but also contribute to fostering a healthier and intellectually advanced nation.
