301 Held in Dhaka Anti-Crime Crackdown

Dhaka: The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 301 people in separate drives across several city areas on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in various crimes.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrests were part of a comprehensive effort to tackle crime in the capital. The DMP's operations led to the apprehension of 63 individuals in Tejgaon Division, 167 in Mirpur Division, 58 in Motijheel Division, and 12 in the Jatrabari Police Station area. All the arrestees were subsequently sent to court, as revealed in a press release.

In a related operation, the DMP's City-Intelligence Analysis Division successfully detained a suspected drug dealer named Mintu, aged 29, in the Ramna area. Mintu was found in possession of 7kg of cannabis, with the arrest being made following a tip-off.

Police officials stated that these drives were concentrated in crime-prone areas as part of their regular efforts to maintain law and order and curb criminal activities throughout Dhaka.
