Dhaka: The physical condition of Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Iqbal Hassan Mahmood is currently stable, according to the Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital authorities.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister was admitted to the hospital with fever, breathing difficulties, and cough. His condition is currently stable, as stated in a press release today.

He will need to remain in the hospital for a few more days for complete treatment and close observation, the release added. On Tuesday night at 9:40 PM, the 76-year-old Power Minister arrived at the hospital's emergency department presenting with fever, breathing difficulties, and cough. His medical history includes diabetes and high blood pressure, and a stent was placed in his coronary artery in Bangkok recently.

Initial examinations in the emergency department indicated that the minister had breathing difficulties and low blood oxygen levels. Following necessary treatment, he was admitted to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) for further evaluation. A three-member medical board was immediately assembled to oversee his treatment.

Hospital authorities reported that after evaluating various blood test results and chest X-rays, considering the possibility of pneumonia in the lungs, appropriate treatment was initiated. This morning, another medical board comprising specialists from various fields was formed. His treatment and required tests are ongoing as per the board's recommendations.
