Khulna: Khulna District Unit BNP Convener Md Moniruzzaman Montu today emphasized the government's commitment to environmental protection under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. He highlighted the government's initiative to prioritize tackling climate change risks through significant tree plantation efforts.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Montu stated that there is no alternative to planting more trees to safeguard the country from the adverse effects of climate change. He announced a comprehensive program aimed at planting and maintaining 25 crore trees over the next five years. This initiative is part of the central program celebrating the 48th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and was discussed during tree plantation events in various locations of Batiaghata upazila.
Montu urged party leaders, activists, and citizens from all sectors to actively participate in efforts to combat natural disasters and contribute to creating a sustainable and green environment. SM Monirul Hasan Bappi, acting member secretary of the District Unit BNP and Administrator of the Khulna District Council, reiterated the importance of tree plantation for maintaining ecological balance and building a sustainable Bangladesh for future generations.
The events saw participation from District BNP joint convener S M Shamim Kabir, BNP leaders Khandoker Faruk Hossain, Ruhul Momin Liton, Abdul Mannan Mistry, GM Harun-or-Rashid, GM Russel, Ayub Molla Ashik, Masum Billah, Shahidul and Wahidul Islam, and Badal Shafik Jabbar, among others.
