Dhaka: Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan today emphasized the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s (BNP) dedication to conducting free, fair, and impartial elections across the nation. He assured that the Prime Minister is committed to presenting the public with a commendable local government election process, aimed at strengthening institutions from union parishads to district councils, municipalities, city corporations, and upazila parishads.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Moyeen Khan made these remarks while serving as the chief guest at a discussion meeting held at the Modern Multipurpose Auditorium in Palash upazila. The event was organized to commemorate the 48th founding anniversary of the BNP. During his address, Khan criticized the Awami League, claiming that the last four elections under their governance were “rigged,” with instances of votes being cast on behalf of deceased individuals and those who did not participate in voting.
The LGRD minister reiterated that the BNP’s political agenda is centered on the welfare of the people rather than a quest for power. He highlighted Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s diplomatic approach, which seeks to maintain amicable relations with countries worldwide, benefiting the people of Bangladesh in the long run.
The meeting was presided over by Palash Upazila BNP President Abdus Sattar and attended by several notable figures, including Upazila BNP General Secretary Saiful Haque, Joint Secretary Bahauddin Bhuiyan Milton, Ghorashal Pourashava BNP President Alam Molla, General Secretary Delwar Hossain, and Sramik Dal President Alamin Bhuiyan.
