Dhaka: The Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has launched a special drive to shift buses remaining idle for a long time at Mohakhali Bus Terminal to a temporary bus depot at Purbachal.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the DMP’s initiative is aimed at easing traffic congestion in and around the Mohakhali bus terminal area and restoring discipline on roads. Additional Commissioner of DMP (Traffic) Md Anisur Rahman stated that buses that have been idling at the terminal for an extended period are being moved to a temporary depot in Purbachal in phases.

Rahman emphasized the cooperation needed from bus owners and drivers, noting that a certain number of vehicles have already been relocated, and the remaining buses will also be shifted gradually. The objective of the drive, he explained, is to restore order in the terminal area and ensure hassle-free movement for passengers, with necessary facilities already established at the temporary depot in Purbachal.

To facilitate the drive, the DMP has deployed an adequate number of police personnel to control traffic and maintain law and order. The department also urged bus owners and drivers to comply with the authorities’ instructions and relocate waiting buses from the Mohakhali terminal to the Purbachal depot.

The DMP affirmed that such initiatives will continue in order to alleviate traffic congestion and improve discipline within the public transport system.
