Chattogram: Two friends were killed after a speeding truck ran over their motorbike on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway in the Lohagara area of Chattogram on Tuesday morning.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the deceased were identified as Mahi Patwari, 20, son of businessman Mizanur Rahman Patwari of Saharpar village near Rahimanagar Bazar in Gohat South Union of Kachua upazila, and Firoz Ahmed alias Towhid, 22, son of auto-rickshaw driver Monir Hossain of the same area. They were traveling to Cox’s Bazar on a motorbike when the accident occurred, said Azizul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kachua Police Station.
Local UP member Zahirul Haque and headteacher Md Mohiuddin Mia reported that the speeding truck hit the motorbike in the Lohagara area, leaving both friends dead on the spot. Relatives mentioned that Mahi and Firoz had grown up together and had been close friends since childhood.
Zahirul Haque noted that relatives rushed to the scene after hearing about the accident. The bodies were returned home after completing the legal process. Their deaths cast a pall of grief over the entire Saharpar village.
