Dhaka: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has successfully hosted the 2nd Diplomatic Indoor Games 2026 at International School Dhaka (ISD), uniting diplomats, international organisation representatives, and government officials through sports diplomacy.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the event featured structured badminton and table tennis categories, drawing participation from numerous diplomatic missions and embassies, including those of Algeria, Australia, Bangladesh, Denmark, Egypt, Germany, India, Indonesia, Iran, Nepal, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the Delegation of the European Union to Bangladesh. Representatives from the United Nations, World Health Organization, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, UNDP, IOM, IFC, and ISD also participated.
During the opening ceremony, Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman emphasized the importance of sports as a medium for fostering trust and understanding among people. He noted that the games provided a relaxed environment for international partners and host institutions to engage in open conversations and strengthen relationships beyond traditional diplomatic settings.
The closing ceremony was attended by several notable figures, including Aharar Hossain, Executive Editor of ALAP; Moshiur Rahman, Managing Director of Modhumoti Group; Dr. Nazrul Islam, Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ziaul Karim, Head of Brand, Marketing and Communications at EBL; Shajalal Sumon, Head of Business Development at Purbani Lifestyle Ltd; and Maria Tanjimath, Advocate at Chamber One, who presented crests to the winning teams.
Mike Miller, Director of ISD, expressed pride in hosting the diplomatic community, highlighting the event as a reflection of the spirit of global dignitaries and institutions coming together for good sportsmanship, which aligns with the objectives of the IB curriculum. Beyond the competitive matches, the games facilitated networking opportunities for international delegations, host ministries, and partner organizations.
