Dhaka: Registration activities for the reunion of the HSC Alumni Association of New Government Degree College (NGDC), Rajshahi, were inaugurated today. Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu, MP, led the inauguration as the chief guest during a ceremony at the college auditorium.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rajshahi City Corporation Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton attended as a special guest and delivered remarks at the event. The programme was presided over by Advocate Mohammad Shafiqul Haque Milon, MP, who is also the chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Water Resources and chief patron of the NGDC HSC Alumni Association.
The ceremony was also graced by the presence of Rajshahi University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Faridul Islam, Rajshahi Zila Parishad Administrator Advocate Ershad Ali Isha, and Rajshahi Development Authority Chairman Abul Kalam Azad Sweet. Former Rajshahi College Principal Professor Habibur Rahman, former NGDC Principal Professor SM Zargis Qadir, and first-batch alumnus Shahed Uddin Mondol were among the speakers.
Professor Dr Shikha Sarker, NGDC Principal and Alumni Association Convener, delivered the welcome address. The event was attended by heads of departments, teachers, former and current students, and members of the Alumni Association.
The speakers emphasized the significant role NGDC has played in the educational and cultural heritage of Rajshahi. They stated that the Alumni Association aims to bring former students together, enhance communication among them, and contribute to the college's development and the welfare of its students. The speakers expressed optimism that the registration drive would establish a robust and effective platform for the college's former students, urging them to join the association and complete their registration.
