Rangpur: The government is committed to ensuring the maximum punishment for those responsible for the brutal killing of Ganapati Chakraborty and his family members, Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu announced. He confirmed that police are preparing to file a charge sheet following further investigation into the murders, and that exemplary punishment will be delivered promptly.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Minister Dulu made these remarks while speaking to reporters during a visit to Ganapati Chakraborty's residence in the Machuapara area of Rangpur city. He emphasized the need for a community-driven movement against drugs, asserting that collective vigilance involving both the public and the administration could significantly reduce crimes linked to drug dealers and users.

Minister Dulu described the killing of four family members, including Ganapati Chakraborty, as both shocking and tragic, expressing that there are no adequate words to condemn such an incident. He revealed that the accused, who were known drug addicts, frequently harassed the Chakraborty family. It is believed that the violent murders occurred when the family attempted to confront them.

The minister further disclosed that police swiftly arrested the two main suspects, who have since provided confessional statements in court. The government's stance is one of "zero-tolerance" towards such heinous acts, Dulu stated, highlighting past instances where the government has set precedents with quick legal action, such as in the Ramisa murder case.

The visit was attended by Rangpur Development Authority Chairman Shamsuzzaman Samu and Rangpur Zilla Parishad Administrator Saiful Islam, who accompanied the minister.
