Dhaka: Seven more children died with measles-like symptoms in 24 hours until 8:00 am on Monday, raising the nation's combined tally of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 915 this year. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has categorized all seven recent fatalities as suspected measles deaths.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the total number of suspected measles deaths has now reached 816, while confirmed deaths from measles have remained at 99. During the same 24-hour period, 981 new suspected measles cases were reported, bringing the cumulative number of suspected cases nationwide to 143,778. Additionally, 50 new confirmed measles cases were recorded, increasing the total number of laboratory-confirmed infections to 17,930.
Since March 15, a total of 125,386 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalized across the country. Of these, 120,913 have recovered, as per DGHS data. The health authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as efforts to contain the outbreak are ongoing.
