Dhaka: The Department of Social Services (DSS) has extended the deadline for online applications for social security allowances and education stipends for the 2026-27 fiscal year until August 31. This extension provides additional time for applicants who were unable to apply within the previous deadline due to disruptions with servers, internet, and power.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the DSS issued a notification recently announcing the extension. Online applications for various allowances, including old-age allowance, widow and divorced women's allowance, disability allowance, and education stipends for students from disadvantaged groups such as transgender people and tea workers, were initially scheduled to be accepted from August 1 to 15.

Field-level officials and applicants reported that many eligible individuals faced challenges completing their applications due to software, internet, and power-related issues. In response to these difficulties, the department extended the application deadline to August 31, as stated in the notification.

Interested applicants can submit their applications through the DSS online application portal at dss.bhata.gov.bd/online-application. Additionally, the concerned divisional, district, and upazila social services offices have been instructed to take necessary measures to facilitate the application process.
