Thimpu: A delegation of the SAARC Journalist Forum (SJF) from the Bangladesh Chapter met with Rinzin Wangchuk, a central executive member of SJF, in Thimpu, Bhutan. The meeting aimed at enhancing mutual cooperation among SAARC journalists from member countries.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting was held at the invitation of Rinzin Wangchuk and focused on various issues, including challenges faced by member countries. They emphasized the importance of increased government cooperation to help journalists develop skills and fulfill their responsibilities with respect. Development training on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for SAARC members and the significance of fostering peace, democracy, and press freedom across South Asia were also highlighted.
Since its inception, the SAARC Journalist Forum has consistently called for authorities and the organization to keep members informed about future initiatives to strengthen regional collaboration through conferences and seminars. Rinzin Wangchuk, who hosted the meeting, has previously served as the President of the Journalists Association of Bhutan and was the Editor of Kuensel, Bhutan's leading national newspaper.
The Bangladesh delegation arrived in Thimpu on August 15, following their participation in the International Indigenous Journalism Conference held in Kathmandu, Nepal, from August 9 to 12. Led by senior journalist Md. Ziaur Rahman, the delegation included prominent figures such as Md Abdur Rahman, Mushtaq Ahmed Mubaraqui, Md. Ziaur Rahman, Mohammad Muniruzzaman, Panna Zaman, and Md Abu Bakar Siddique.
