Dhaka: A low-pressure area has formed over the North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of West Bengal and Bangladesh, and it is likely to intensify, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the department has forecasted rains across all eight divisions in the next 24 hours commencing 9 am on Wednesday. Light to moderate rain and thundershowers, accompanied by temporary gusty winds, are expected in many places over the Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions. A few places in the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions may also experience similar weather conditions.
The department's bulletin further indicates that moderately heavy to heavy rainfall is anticipated at various locations across the country. Daytime temperatures are not expected to change significantly, while nighttime temperatures might see a slight decrease.
The monsoon trough currently extends through Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, and the centre of the low-pressure area to Assam, crossing the southern regions of Bangladesh. The monsoon is described as fairly active over Bangladesh and strong over the North Bay, as mentioned in the bulletin.
