Transport Sector Urged to Enhance Workers-Owners Cooperation: Shimul Biswas

Dhaka: BNP Chairman's Special Assistant and Chief Coordinator of the Road Transport Owners-Workers Coordination Council, Advocate Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, emphasized the need for enhanced cooperation between workers and owners to make the country's transport sector more dynamic. He addressed a gathering at a city hotel, underscoring the commitment to establish fair rights for transport workers, ensure a safe working environment, and guarantee their social security.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the urgent view-exchange meeting involved labour and transport leaders from across the nation, convened to address professional crises, rights, security, and ongoing issues faced by road transport workers. Chaired by Abdur Rahim Box Dudu, the meeting was attended by numerous leaders, including Sajib Ali, Mohammad Hanif, and General Islam, among others.

Transport workers' leaders from various districts highlighted issues such as workplace problems, road safety, fair rights, welfare facilities, and the current crisis in the transport sector. In his keynote address, Advocate Shimul Biswas emphasized the economic significance of the road transport sector and stressed the importance of mutual harmony and cooperation between workers and owners to modernize and invigorate the sector.

Shimul Biswas assured the attendees that all necessary measures would be taken in coordination with all parties involved to meet the reasonable demands of transport workers. He urged everyone, including workers and owners, to collaborate to improve discipline, safety, and service quality within the road transport sector.

The meeting was also graced by the presence of BNP Joint Labour Affairs Secretary and Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation General Secretary Md Humayun Kabir Khan, who attended as a special guest. He emphasized the importance of worker unity and suggested that ongoing problems could be resolved through dialogue and organizational strength.

Representatives from various road transport workers' organizations at both district and central levels attended the meeting. They commended Advocate Shimul Biswas, also a Member of Parliament from the Pabna-5 constituency, for his proactive role and sincere efforts in resolving the transport sector crisis, securing workers' rights, and promoting overall development. They expressed their commitment to continue working together under his leadership in the future.
