Dhaka: Bangladesh Honda Private Limited (BHL) has taken a significant step in expanding its export operations by dispatching Honda NX200 motorcycles to Mexico. This move marks a milestone in the company's strategy to bolster Bangladesh's presence in the global motorcycle market.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the recent export to Mexico follows BHL's earlier shipments to Guatemala. This aligns with the company's strategy to broaden its international reach while adhering to Honda's global quality standards, as highlighted in a press release. The export ceremony saw the participation of Dr Md Sakirul Islam Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister with Secretary status, as the chief guest, alongside Gazaria Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ummay Hafsa Nadia as the guest of honour.
BHL, a joint venture between the Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation (BSEC) and Japan's Honda Motor Co., Ltd., emphasized that this latest export underscores Bangladesh's growing capability in the motorcycle manufacturing sector, enabling the supply of high-quality products to international markets. The initiative is expected to contribute to export diversification, promote local manufacturing, strengthen the domestic supply chain, and create employment opportunities.
During the event, Dr Sakirul Islam Khan reiterated the government's commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment conducive to manufacturing, exports, and investment. He described the export of the Honda NX200 to Mexico as a significant achievement that would support export diversification, employment generation, and enhance Bangladesh's global recognition.
Susumu Morisawa, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Bangladesh Honda Private Limited, stated that the expansion of exports to Mexico reflects the company's continuous improvement in production capability, quality assurance, and workforce dedication. He emphasized the company's intent to enhance local procurement, improve manufacturing competitiveness, and expand exports to new international markets, thereby contributing to Bangladesh's industrial development.
Shah Muhammad Ashequr Rahman, Chief Marketing Officer of BHL, noted that the export of the Honda NX200 to Mexico highlights Bangladesh's growing manufacturing capability and Honda's adherence to global quality standards. He added that while the domestic market remains a priority, the export initiative will support industrial development, technological advancement, localization, employment generation, and Bangladesh's emergence as a competitive motorcycle manufacturing and export base.
BHL affirmed its commitment to improving production efficiency, increasing localization, and exploring additional international markets in alignment with Honda's global vision. The company expressed gratitude to government entities, the National Board of Revenue, the Duty Exemption and Drawback Office, the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority, customs authorities, banking partners, suppliers, dealers, and other stakeholders for their support in facilitating export activities.
