Dhaka: Speakers at an exchange of views and general meeting have called on all workshop owners and concerned parties to control environmental and noise pollution as part of efforts to build a noise-pollution-free and safe Rangpur city. The call was made at the meeting held at the office of the Rangpur Motorcycle Mechanical Workshop Owners Association (RMMWOA) in the Senpara area of the city this morning.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was organized under the direction of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud. The RMMWOA aimed to increase public awareness of the importance of preventing environmental and noise pollution while ensuring discipline on the roads. Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Police (Traffic) of RpMP Maruf Ahmed attended the event as the chief guest, with RMMWOA President Rafiqul Islam presiding.
Rangpur Divisional Director of the Department of Environment Md Runayet Amin Reza participated as the keynote speaker, providing insights into the critical issue of pollution in urban settings. Special guests included Motor Vehicle Inspector at the Rangpur Circle Office of BRTA Md Mahbubar Rahman and General Secretary of RMMWOA Md Litan Mia, who emphasized the need for cooperation and compliance with environmental standards.
The programme was moderated by Joint General Secretary of RMMWOA Md Golam Rabbani (Angur) and held under the supervision of General Secretary Md Jahurul Haque. The chief guest highlighted the crucial role of workshop owners in controlling pollution by avoiding unnecessary horns and loud noises and maintaining motorcycle silencers and other mechanical parts to standard specifications.
In his concluding speech, RMMWOA president Rafiqul Islam urged everyone to provide environmentally friendly and legal services to control pollution in the Rangpur metropolis. The leaders and members of the RMMWOA expressed their commitment to working with the administration to address these environmental challenges. "Let's be aware of protecting the environment, and build a noise-pollution-free and safe Rangpur," Rafiqul Islam concluded.
