Mymensingh: A week-long tree fair and tree plantation campaign began in the district today. The District Administration and the Forest Department have jointly organized the fair at the compound of the Office of the Assistant Commissioner (Land) in the town. Local lawmaker, Advocate Shah Md Wares Ali Mamun, formally inaugurated the event as the chief guest, emphasizing the critical role of tree plantation in environmental protection. He urged community members from all walks of life to engage in this essential social campaign.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Assistant Organizing Secretary of BNP, Mamun, highlighted Prime Minister Tariq Rahman's inclusion of tree plantation in the 31 points charter, stressing the importance of nurturing trees after planting. A discussion meeting was also held at the fair compound, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Yusuf Ali, with various local officials, including Additional Superintendent of Police Rakibul Islam, Medical Officer Dr. Mubashshira Huq, and Mymensingh Divisional Forest Officer Kazi Muhammad Nurul Karim, sharing their insights.
The fair features a diverse array of 30 stalls showcasing various trees, aiming to promote awareness and encourage the community to partake in tree planting activities.
