Dhaka: Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Minister Prof A Z M Zahid Hossain today emphasized the importance of nurturing children's hidden talents, likening children to flowers. He made these remarks while attending the launch of "Shaplakuri 2026," a children's reality competition on Channel i, as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Zahid expressed optimism that the competition would unearth talented young artists who could contribute significantly to the cultural landscape of the country. He praised the efforts of the Bangladesh Zia Child Academy, which is dedicated to discovering the hidden talents of children, and highlighted the role of the Shaplakuri reality show in fostering children's artistic abilities. Zahid noted that many acclaimed artists in Bangladesh have risen to prominence through Channel i's cultural programmes.
The Bangladesh Zia Child Academy is organizing the competition under the theme, "Wherever there is talent, there we are." Now in its 14th edition, Shaplakuri continues to spotlight young talents from across the nation. Children who advanced through preliminary rounds in 12 zones will showcase their skills in six disciplines: Qirat, recitation, acting, music, dance, and instrumental music.
The competition features 15 individual and three group categories, with participants allowed to enter up to three individual events and one group event. Winners will be awarded first, second, and third places in each category, and two Shaplakuri Champions will emerge from two divisions.
The episodes of the competition will be aired on Channel i, and interested participants can register between July 26 and August 20, 2026. Further information is available on the Channel i and Bangladesh Zia Child Academy websites.
