Dhaka: To ensure the security of Rajshahi city residents, curb crime, monitor vehicular movement, and build a digitally secured city, Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has handed over 155 state-of-the-art CCTV cameras to the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP). This noon, at the conference room of the RMP Commissioner’s office, RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton formally handed over the CCTV cameras to RMP Commissioner Mohammad Faizul Kabir.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton expressed their commitment to implementing the directives of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and ensuring civic services. He emphasized their intention to work based on the demands of the people, stating that the CCTV cameras have been provided for the security of city dwellers. He assured that RCC will continue to offer necessary cooperation to the RMP to build a safe and peaceful metropolis.
RMP Commissioner Mohammad Faizul Kabir acknowledged the significant role these CCTV cameras would play in preventive and detective policing. He highlighted their importance in strengthening the security system for citizens, which is expected to enhance the safety measures in Rajshahi.
Representatives from both RCC and RMP attended the event. On behalf of RCC, Chief Executive Officer Rezaul Karim, Secretary Sohel Rana, Superintending Engineers Khairul Baker and Ahmad Al Moin Parag, Executive Magistrate Nazmul Alam, and Executive Engineer (Electrical) ABM Asaduzzaman Sweet were present. From RMP, Deputy Police Commissioners Khorshed Alam and Mainul Islam, and Special Superintendent of Police (City SB) Abul Kalam Sahid participated. The programme was conducted by Deputy Police Commissioner (CTTC) Md. Gaziur Rahman.
The modern technology-equipped CCTV cameras are set to be installed at important roads, intersections, and crowded places in Rajshahi metropolis. This installation aims to strengthen round-the-clock surveillance, making crime prevention, law and order improvement, traffic management, and rapid response in emergency situations more effective.
