Dhaka: An activist of Jubo Dal, the youth wing of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), was shot dead, and two others sustained bullet injuries in the Kafrul area of Dhaka on Friday night. The victim was identified as Yusuf Ali, 45, a member of Kafrul thana unit Jubo Dal.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the incident occurred when local Jubo Dal leader Hafizur Rahman and a group of 7-8 individuals were conversing in front of a garment factory around 11:30 pm in Mirpur-13. During this time, 3-4 armed assailants opened fire on them, resulting in injuries to Yusuf and two others.
The injured individuals, including Nalam Sardar, 45, and Monir Hossain, 32, were transported to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital around 12:30 am. Upon arrival, doctors declared Yusuf dead, as confirmed by Inspector Faruk, in-charge of the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital police camp.
Local residents managed to apprehend a suspect linked to the shooting and subsequently handed him over to the authorities for further investigation.
