No Alternative to Sports to Save Youth from Mobile and Drug Addiction: Anee

Laxmipur: Water Resources Minister Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee today emphasized the critical role of sports in diverting youth from the addictive clutches of mobile phones and drugs. Speaking at the prize distribution ceremony of the annual sports competition at Dattapara Ramratan Multilateral Ideal High School, Anee underscored sports as a fundamental component in fostering intellectual and mental growth among students.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Minister Anee stressed the importance of parental involvement in nurturing their children's talents and guiding them responsibly. He urged parents to monitor their children's activities, associations, and screen time diligently to combat the detrimental effects of digital and drug addictions.

The minister highlighted ongoing government initiatives aimed at student development and reiterated the collective responsibility of parents, teachers, and society in safeguarding the future generation from addiction. He pointed out the destructive impact of digital device misuse and drugs, urging a collaborative effort to steer students toward academic focus and away from harmful habits.

The ceremony was chaired by the school management committee president M. Bellal Hossain and attended by notable figures including Chandragunj Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Nilufa Yasmin, Chandragunj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Rab, Joint Convener of the district BNP Advocate Hasibur Rahman, and General Secretary of Chandragunj Upazila BNP M. Yusuf Bhuiya, among others.
