Dhaka: Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md. Asaduzzaman announced that the election of the new President will occur during the regular parliamentary session scheduled for September. He addressed the matter during a press briefing held at the CIRDAP auditorium in the capital, clarifying that there is no necessity for a special session of Parliament to facilitate the election process.

According to United News of Bangladesh, when questioned about potential legal actions against the recently resigned President Md. Shahabuddin, the minister chose not to comment, stating his reluctance to address the issue at this time. President Mohammed Shahabuddin stepped down from his position on Friday, attributing his resignation to health concerns. His resignation letter was submitted to Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, who subsequently assumed the role of acting President, as outlined in the Constitution.
