PM Calls for Upholding Values of Peace and Humanity to Build a Safer World

Dhaka: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called for upholding the values of peace, humanity, and cooperation to build a better and safer world. “We believe that a safe and peaceful world can be built through mutual respect, cooperation, and tolerance,” he stated in a message for the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the prime minister emphasized Bangladesh’s commitment to taking initiatives and actively participating in United Nations peacekeeping operations to promote global peace. He highlighted the UN peacekeeping mission as a unique initiative that ensures global peace, stability, and human security.

Tarique Rahman expressed hope that peacekeepers would continue to work with courage, patience, and dedication to restore peace in regions affected by conflict, violence, and humanitarian crises. He noted Bangladesh’s significant contributions to United Nations peacekeeping operations, stating that the country’s peacekeepers have enhanced its reputation by demonstrating professionalism, competence, and humanitarian values in missions worldwide.

The prime minister acknowledged the role of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, who adopted a balanced foreign policy that increased Bangladesh’s acceptability in the United Nations. He mentioned Ziaur Rahman’s active diplomatic initiatives, which positioned Bangladesh as one of the largest troop-contributing countries to UN peacekeeping operations.

Tarique Rahman paid tribute to the brave peacekeepers who made the ultimate sacrifice while establishing world peace, emphasizing that their contributions will remain memorable in the nation’s history. He also extended sympathy to injured peacekeepers and their families.

The prime minister highlighted the important role of women peacekeepers from Bangladesh, who have earned global appreciation through their skills, leadership, and professional excellence. This achievement reflects women’s empowerment and stands as a testament to Bangladesh’s development and progress.

On the occasion of the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers, the prime minister extended heartfelt greetings and deep respect to all peacekeepers serving worldwide.
