Nine BCL Activists Arrested Over Flash Procession in Mymensingh

Mymensingh: Police have arrested nine activists of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in Mymensingh’s Bhaluka upazila for allegedly participating in a flash procession under the banner of the outlawed student organization. Confirming the arrests to BSS around 3:00 pm on Sunday, Mymensingh Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Kamrul Hasan said the operation was conducted jointly by district police and Bhaluka Model Police Station to maintain public safety and ensure normal law and order in the area. He said legal proceedings against the detainees are currently underway.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrested individuals were identified as Emon Sheikh, 28, Md. Farhad Hossain, 28, Saiful, 40, Nazim Uddin, 25, Md. Faruk Hasan, 38, Md. Mehedi Hasan Alal, 35, Md. Iqbal Talukdar, 30, Rony Ghosh, 37, and Md. Monir Hossain, 29. Police stated that all of them are associated with the Awami League and its affiliated organizations and are residents of different unions and areas of Bhaluka municipality and upazila.



Police sources indicated that on the morning of June 6, more than 100 activists led by Bhaluka Upazila Chhatra League General Secretary Afsanul Islam Khan Rafi staged a flash procession on the Mymensingh-Dhaka highway in the Jamirdia area under the banner of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League. Following the incident, law enforcement agencies launched operations in several areas, including Habirbari and Batajor, and arrested nine individuals accused of taking part in the procession.
