Chattogram: State Minister for Land and Hill Tracts Affairs, Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, emphasized the guiding principles of patriotism and integrity in the leadership of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman during a discussion meeting. These principles, he stated, were pivotal to Ziaur Rahman's actions and legacy in Bangladeshi politics.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister highlighted the synonymous relationship between Shaheed Zia and integrity, asserting that despite criticism, the notions of his patriotism and integrity remain unchallenged. He described this as the pinnacle of human achievement and urged that politics should serve humanity, reflecting Ziaur Rahman's belief in societal betterment through principled action.
Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin delivered his remarks as the chief guest at the event titled "Ziaur Rahman's Contribution to Protecting Independence and Sovereignty, Establishing Multi-Party Democracy, and Building Modern Bangladesh." Organized by the Chattogram City Swchasebok Dal, the meeting took place at the Shaheed Zia Memorial Museum Auditorium in Chattogram to mark the 45th anniversary of President Ziaur Rahman's martyrdom.
The event featured special guests Alhaj Ershad Ullah, MP, Abu Sufian, MP, and Nazimur Rahman, the Member Secretary of Chattogram City BNP. Mir Helal criticized the last 17 years in Bangladesh as a period marred by deceitful historical revisionism. He called for a deeper understanding and dissemination of Shaheed Zia's life philosophy.
The minister further highlighted the Zia family's consistent support for Bangladesh during pivotal moments, including the events of 1971 and 1975, the mass uprising of the 90s, and the struggles against the Moinuddin-Fakhruddin regime and the July 24 mass uprising.
The meeting was presided over by Belayet Hossain Bulu, the convener of Chattogram City Swchasebok Dal, with member secretary Eng. Jamir Uddin Nahid acting as the moderator.
